Project Examples

Hello my name is Alyssa (and my name is also Alyssa)
In this project we researched how the G.I. Bill affected the
development of Idlewild. We chose this topic because in our
brief overview of politics and laws, we saw how the G.I. Bill
affected the rest of the country and were curious how it affected
a little town like Idlewild. The G.I. Bill helped veterans coming
home from WWII further advance their education beyond high school.
This opened doors for higher skilled jobs, which led to more people
to afford housing in places like Idlewild. There were 239 houses built
in Idlewild after the G.I. Bill was passed in 1944. One thing that helped
Idlewild was the CCC or The Civilian Conservation Corps. The CCC
was a public work relief program for unemployed, unmarried men.
There was a camp near Idlewild, 30 miles away in Baldwin. The Camp
had lots of enrolled men from Idlewild which helped develop careers
for these young men. So, Overall, the G.I. Bill affected Idlewild’s community
positively by providing more opportunities for further development.
